ASSIGNMENT EDITOR - KTVT CBS 11 / KTXA UPN 21

Responsibilities:
-- Helps to assign news stories to reporters, photographers, and editors
on a daily basis, to ensure timely and consistent coverage of local news.
-- Takes direction from assignment managers and upper news management.
-- Meets with news managers on a regular basis to determine editorial
direction of daily and long-term news coverage, to ensure consistency
in direction and objectives while providing maximum coverage of local
news.
-- Monitors scanners and emergency service agencies and takes incoming
calls and determines news worthiness. Assigns editing duties and roll
feeds tape numerous times each day, to ensure most efficient utilization
of personnel and equipment in covering stories that provide maximum coverage
of events.
Requirements:
-- Bachelor's or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism or
related field preferred.
-- 3-5 years with a minimum of one year as an Assignment Editor at a medium/large
market size television station.
-- Experience with BASYS Computer System, AT&T 302A CP preferred.
-- The ability to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
-- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to
work effectively with newsroom personnel and the public.
